The Endurance-class Fleet Carrier was a dedicated New Republic warship developed as part of the New Class Modernization Program. Designed to serve as the aviation centerpiece of modern fleet formations, the class traded much of the heavy armament found on conventional capital ships for expanded hangar capacity and extensive starfighter support facilities. Its primary strength was the ability to deploy large numbers of fighters and heavy assault craft, including B-wings and K-wings, while accompanying other New Class vessels into battle

Role in the New Republic
The Endurance-class Fleet Carrier was a dedicated starfighter carrier developed by the New Republic as part of the New Class Modernization Program following the fall of the Galactic Empire. Unlike heavily armed battleships, the Endurance-class was designed to project power through its massive complement of starfighters, making it one of the New Republic's premier carrier vessels. It sacrificed heavy offensive weaponry in favor of expansive hangar facilities capable of deploying large numbers of X-wings, B-wings, K-wings and support craft. Its fighter wings allowed it to engage enemy fleets from long range while escorted by heavily armed capital ships.
The Endurance-class served as a vital component of New Republic fleet doctrine, providing mobile starfighter support, command capabilities and long-range force projection. The class remained in service for many years, continuing to operate under the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances during the Yuuzhan Vong War, where its ability to rapidly launch and recover large starfighter formations proved invaluable in large-scale fleet engagements
