The Interdictor-class Star Destroyer was one of the Galactic Empire's most specialized capital ships, designed not for overwhelming firepower but for strategic control of the battlefield. Based on the Imperial-class Star Destroyer hull, it replaced much of its heavy armament with four powerful gravity well projectors capable of generating artificial gravitational fields. These projectors prevented enemy vessels from entering hyperspace and could even force ships already traveling through hyperspace back into realspace, making escape virtually impossible

Role in the Imperial Fleet
The Interdictor-class Star Destroyer fulfilled a unique strategic role within the Imperial Navy, acting as a force multiplier rather than a frontline battleship. Its gravity well projectors allowed Imperial commanders to prevent enemy ships from escaping into hyperspace or to pull fleeing vessels out of hyperspace into prepared ambushes. This capability made the class indispensable for blockades, pursuit operations, anti-smuggling patrols, and the interception of Rebel task forces
